The macula is the small spot in the center of the retina.<\/p>\n<p>It can take a while to notice the symptoms of macular degeneration but as it progresses, a blurred area in the central line of vision appears. Over time, the blurred area will become larger and spots can develop in the central area of vision.<\/p>\n<p>Macular degeneration causes problems with everyday tasks such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Driving<\/li>\n<li>Reading<\/li>\n<li>Writing<\/li>\n<li>Watching television<\/li>\n<li>Cooking<\/li>\n<li>Fixing things around the home<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Reducing the risk of macular degeneration include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Avoid smoking<\/li>\n<li>Exercise regularly<\/li>\n<li>Eat health foods<\/li>\n<li>Maintain healthy blood pressure and cholesterol<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Currently, macular degeneration does not have a cure but incorporating healthy habits in your lifestyle can help vision last longer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"bibliography-item-info\">\n<div id=\"copy-target-909267250\" class=\"bibliography-item-copy-text content\">Facts About Age-Related Macular Degeneration.
