Congratulations to Sarah Agee and Mathew Molina on their successful research presentations at the 6th Annual ACU Undergraduate Research Festival. ACU’s annual Undergraduate Research Festival <\/strong> features speeches and posters by students from every field. More than 160 students from over 20 departments gave verbal and poster presentations of their original research on a wide variety of topics in the arts, humanities, social sciences, engineering, technology, science and mathematics. presentations. Today’s festival marked the largest undergraduate research festival in ACU History.<\/p>\n

Sarah Agee, Senior Social Work major from Cedar Hill, Texas was the first presenter at today’s Undergraduate Research festival. Sarah’s research on oral stories of African-American preachers is funded by the Aging Studies Research grant mentored by Dr. Carisse Berryhill, Associate Dean for Digital Initiatives, Special Collections, and University Archives at ACU’s Brown Library.<\/p>\n

\nGero student, Mathew Molina\u2019s presented his research on parental concerns about early childhood vaccinations was featured on the ACU Research Roundup website at this link http:\/\/www.acu.edu\/news\/2013\/130823-summer-research-2013-roundup.html<\/a><\/p>\n

“Research that isn’t shared with others has little value, so having an opportunity for our students to communicate the findings from research they’ve been conducting all year is quite important,” says Dr. Autumn Sutherlin, director of undergraduate research and associate professor of chemistry\/biochemistry. “Our festival allows others to see the exciting things going on in research here on a wide variety of topics.”<\/p>\n

The festival highlighted the impressive efforts of many students who participate in real-world, hands-on research across multiple disciplines. Students work with faculty members on research projects, often earning publication in scholarly journals and gaining experience prized by employers and graduate schools.<\/p>\n
