CopyTalk Webinar: “Copyright Implications in the COVID-19 World” – This webinar will take place on Thursday, April 2nd, from 1:30-2:30 CST, and all you have to do is click on this Zoom link to join. A short description of this session, taken from the ACRL Insider blog, is here:

“The next CopyTalk is a timely one: how to manage copyright when everything is suddenly “only digital” for libraries, schools, colleges and universities that are closed due to the global pandemic. OASPA Webinar: “What is scholarly communication and publishing in the 21st Century?” – Hosted by the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association, this webinar is also on April 2nd, starting at 9:00am CST. The extent to which researchers and publishers are now making data and articles about COVID-19 openly available, for example, is testament to the impact of the change and the widespread understanding of the benefits of openness and collaboration to accelerate research. This is beginning to reap real benefits for science and society. So what is scholarly communication and publishing in the 21st Century and what should our priorities for, and values of, scholarship be now compared with those in the 20th Century?”

3. COAPI Community Call: “Tailoring Transformative Agreements to Support Green Open Access” – COAPI (the Coalition of Open Access Publishing Institutions) offers free community calls every other month on pertinent topics related to open access policies. This month’s call will be on Tuesday, April 7th at 12:00pm CST. Read a short description of the call below, and click here to register.

“Convincing authors to deposit their scholarly articles in institutional repositories (a practice known as “green open access”) has proven to be very difficult, leading some to question the feasibility of this strategy for making scholarship more openly available. However, the growing popularity of transformative agreements between libraries and publishers presents an opportunity to explore other strategies for facilitating green open access – strategies that depend on cooperation between libraries and publishers, and that may not require any intervention on the part of authors. For example, both the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Framework for Publisher Contracts and the University of California’s Declaration of Principles to Transform Scholarly Communication demand that publishers work with libraries to facilitate the immediate deposit of scholarly articles in institutional repositories.”

In this time of social distancing and many people beginning to work remotely, we’re blessed to be able to still

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[216,143221,143227,198684
143278,216,208107,143221,143248,198684
post-1067","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-copyright","category-open-access","category-scholarly-communication","category-webinar","tag-coapi","tag-copyright","tag-oaspa","tag-open-access","tag-scholarly-communications","tag-webinar","comments-off
["GET
