The Max Lucado Collection was established in 2015 when Lucado designated his alma mater\u2019s Brown Library as the repository for materials documenting his career as a missionary, evangelist and writer. Lucado was the university\u2019s Oustanding Alumnus of the Year in 2003 and earned bachelor\u2019s (1977) and master\u2019s (1982) degrees from ACU.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was at ACU that I was found by Christ. I don\u2019t think I found him, I think he found me and literally re-routed my life and my family\u2019s for generations,\u201d Lucado said. \u201cI pray these papers can show some of that story to someone who needs a discovery of grace.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nThe text of You Are Special<\/em> appeared first as part of \u201cThe Secret of Greatness\u201d in
\nLucado\u2019s Tell Me the Secrets<\/em> (1994). Reconceived as a free-standing book and
\nillustrated by Sergio Martinez, the story of wooden Punchinello — who meets the
\nmaster carver who made him — took on compelling visual form in 1997.<\/p>\n
