{"id":4434,"date":"2023-06-12T14:50:36","date_gmt":"2023-06-12T19:50:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/specialcollections\/?p=4434"},"modified":"2023-06-12T14:56:10","modified_gmt":"2023-06-12T19:56:10","slug":"christian-chronicle-archives-available-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/specialcollections\/2023\/06\/12\/christian-chronicle-archives-available-online\/","title":{"rendered":"Christian Chronicle archives available online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 2020 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsl.texas.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Texas State Library &amp; Archives Commission<\/a> (TSLAC) awarded funding to Brown Library <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acu.edu\/library\/departments\/about-nav\/special-collections.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Special Collections and Archives<\/a> under its TexTreasures Grant program.\u00a0 The $25,000 grant facilitated digitization of the full print run of the <i><a href=\"https:\/\/christianchronicle.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Christian Chronicle<\/a>,\u00a0<\/i>a major, global newspaper serving Churches of Christ since 1943.<\/p>\n<p>This digital repository of\u00a0<i>The Christian Chronicle<\/i>\u00a0is the result of a partnership among Special Collections and Archives, Abilene Christian University (Abilene, TX),\u00a0<i>The Christian Chronicle<\/i>, Oklahoma Christian University (Edmond, OK), Oklahoma Historical Society (Oklahoma City, OK), and University of North Texas (Denton, TX), and is <a href=\"https:\/\/texashistory.unt.edu\/explore\/partners\/ACUL\/browse\/?fq=untl_collection:CHCR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available here<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Chronicle<\/em> featured this online collection in a story in the current issue:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"QNKYYK6gpm\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/christianchronicle.org\/catching-up-on-80-years-of-christian-news\/\">Catching up on 80 years of Christian news<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"&#8220;Catching up on 80 years of Christian news&#8221; &#8212; The Christian Chronicle\" src=\"https:\/\/christianchronicle.org\/catching-up-on-80-years-of-christian-news\/embed\/#?secret=LYQ5T0FDbZ#?secret=QNKYYK6gpm\" data-secret=\"QNKYYK6gpm\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>From the first issue, <i>The Chronicle<\/i> was globally aware. Each issue since has carried news and information about Churches of Christ from around the world.
