Q: How much do Weekend Campaigns cost?

A: Nothing! While you may have to pay for a 2-3 meals, there is no cost to go on a campaign. The transportation and housing are all paid for through the Students Ministries. All you have to do is sign up and show up.

Q: How many Weekend Campaigns are there? Where do you go?

A: That depends. Usually, we have 4-5 a semester. We go through many different places throughout Texas and the surrounding states. Places that we go to include Belton, Odessa, Houston, Oklahoma City, Lubbock, San Antonio, HEB Foundation Camp, and more.

Q: Are there any forms that I need to fill out?

A: Yes, you will need to fill out both a waiver and a medical form before you can go on any trip. You can get those forms for 2012 here and here.

Q: Do you have a membership program?

A: No, Weekend Campaigns does not have “members,” per se. We have several regulars that go on multiple campaigns, but there is no set membership program. That said, there are no dues and you don’t have to apply to anything to go on a campaign.

Q: Can I go off on my own once we reach our destination?

A: Because Weekend Campaigns are ACU-sponsored trips and are therefore under ACU’s insurance, we cannot allow anyone to go off on their own. It’s all about liability. Unfortunately, this means that we can’t let you stay at a friend’s house, go off to meet up with other people, etc. Now, you can have friends and family meet up with us during the campaign, but unless under special circumstances, you’re going to have to stick around with us. :)

Q: What kind of work do you usually do on a campaign? How many service hours do we get?

A: It varies. Basically, we do anything that needs to be done wherever we go. This includes working with kids, the mentally handicapped, food banks, churches, cancer patients, summer camps, and more. On average, we’ll work for about 4-6 hours, which can count towards required service hours for classes or scholarships.

Q: Where can I sign up for a campaign?

A: Sign ups usually start the week before the campaign. The first place available to sign up is during Thursday Chapel in the Bible 113.

Q: How can I get more information?

A: The leadership team is always available and willing to answer any questions that you have. Just catch us at chapel or send us an email at weekendcampaigns@gmail.com.
