Crews have nearly completed the outdoor basketball court, which, despite being adjacent to the parking lot, will be accessible only from the east side of the facility itself.
These photos actually were taken last week. There are a lot of them, so we’ll get right into it. Needless to say, progress has picked up quite a bit, as whole sections of the building are now essentially done, awaiting only minor additions and cleanup. Tile work continues on the Aquatic Center’s leisure pool. Tiling is expected to be completed this week.
The cleaned and refurbished lap pool is complete.
Renovations to the first-floor classrooms on the west end of the facility, near Moody Coliseum, are also complete.
The last section of the facility to see major work, the cardio floor, was awaiting its floor last week. Flooring and mirrors in this area are scheduled to be installed before Tuesday, which is when crews begin installing the workout equipment.
The locker rooms are essentially complete, with cleanup the main thing left to do here (the tile floor is underneath the brown paper visible in the photo).
The bathrooms are nearly complete, as well. All work on the locker rooms and bathrooms is scheduled to be finished by the end of this week.
On the second floor, carpet and paint meant the corridors in the office and classroom area were essentially finished. It was scheduled to be done by earlier this week.
Crews finished laying the jogging track last week and in most areas needed only to add a new coat of paint to the adjacent walls and paint the ceiling, tasks expected to be completed earlier this week.
These custom-made hanging ceiling frames arrived later than expected, but crews have finished installing them. Placing the tiles and painting them also was expected to be finished this week.
Crews were installing the parquet floors in the upstairs exercise classrooms last week. Installing the floors, ceiling tiles and large widescreen televisions in the two rooms should be done by the end of this week. That would complete this section of the facility, as well.
Crews were installing the final panes of glass in the enormous two-story east-facing window last week, and finished the task earlier this week. All windows and bricks have now been installed, and work on the facility’s exterior is now confined to landscaping and the adjacent parking lot.
