Staff Senate Meeting Minutes<\/span>
\nFebruary 8, \u00a02018<\/span><\/p>\n

In Attendance: \u00a0Chris Ballard, Dave Beard, Brad Benham, Emily Berry, Eric Gumm, Kathy Redman, Scott Delony, Stephanie Woodlee, Tina Chisholm, Will Wyatt, * Ex Officio \u2013 Prentice Ashford, Cindy Gravitt, Grant Abston, Steve Rowlands, Jill Fortson, D’Angelo Sands, Debbie Stewart<\/span><\/p>\n

Call to Order<\/span><\/p>\n

New Senate Member – Brad Benham – All Senate Introduction<\/span><\/p>\n

Chris gives a brief description of Staff Senate structure<\/span><\/p>\n

About my Role Exercise – Cindy Gravitt, Medical Practice Manager<\/span><\/p>\n

Committee Updates – Stephanie Woodlee<\/span><\/p>\n

Both Stephanie and Tina Chisholm are rotating off senate the end of this year<\/span><\/p>\n

Accepting volunteers to committee<\/span><\/p>\n

Email sent out last week for nominations, extensive task to weed out ineligible candidates<\/span><\/p>\n

82 people have submitted names for nominations<\/span><\/p>\n

There was a reminder in the ACU email Monday that gained some traction<\/span><\/p>\n

Steve: \u00a0Have we tracked how many people have nominated senators?<\/span><\/p>\n

Stephanie, Chris and Tina will go through nominations and choose the top ten and send them an email, talk to their supervisor and get approval.<\/span><\/p>\n

Deadline to accept nomination is March 16.<\/span><\/p>\n

Week of March 19, we will send the email for voting<\/span><\/p>\n

Week of April 9 votes will be tallied.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chris will communicate to those who were chosen<\/span><\/p>\n

Ballots will be sealed on April 25<\/span><\/p>\n

New senate convenes June 1<\/span><\/p>\n

Committee has worked hard to compile historical data for nominations committee so the process will be easier for future committees.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vetting the staff list BEFORE including them in the list of people eligible is a new procedure<\/span><\/p>\n

SERVICE COMMITTEE<\/span><\/p>\n

Reached out to serve Aubree after her baby was born, found out that her office helped her – common issue the serving committee faces.<\/span><\/p>\n

Planning to discuss how to better serve people, how to outreach and be better connected to offices on campus. \u00a0Often offices are already helping their people<\/span><\/p>\n

Chris: \u00a0Would love to have a 1-2 page document that clearly outlines the duties of that committee.<\/span><\/p>\n

DEVELOPMENT AND RECOGNITION<\/span><\/p>\n

Steve has 5 years of data from the Chronicle of Higher Education survey.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now working with Wendy to see if we can add questions to the survey staff already receives every year. \u00a0We want to know how to support our staff and be aware of the morale among campus staff. Goal is to get the survey as close to perfect as we can and send it out with the next survey. \u00a0We decided we don\u2019t need to do more surveys, we just need to add questions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Steve will save the spreadsheets with data in the Staff Senate folder.<\/span><\/p>\n

We may be able to add questions to this year\u2019s survey.<\/span><\/p>\n

COMMUNICATIONS<\/span><\/p>\n

Debbie started working on the description for the committee, she will create a new folder with committee descriptions and timelines.<\/span><\/p>\n

Town Hall this month featuring the Medical and Counseling Care Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

BENEFITS<\/span><\/p>\n

Will meet this month with Wendy to discuss year end results for 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n

Will continue the conversation regarding the bereavement leave policy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Discussion regarding cards that staff senate sends out to new staff, anniversaries, and bereavement<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Meeting with Dr. Schubert – April 18 from 8:30-9:30am Reeves Alumni Conference Room<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Schubert will want questions at least a week in advance. \u00a0Email questions to Chris. He will want to know what we are hearing and feeling from staff regarding areas of concern.<\/span><\/p>\n
