Due to the scope of their grant pay, they are unable to serve as senators. James asked that we advocate for these staff members.(Conversation was tabled and more will be discussed at the April meeting.)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Communication <\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Staff Senate Webpage\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Current members link updated so that staff will know the term for each senator<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">changes to bylaws\u00a0 (will discuss in April)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An agenda form was added to the website so that staff could have items added to the agenda<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Benefits and Advocacy <\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\">No updates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Service<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>Discussed that they would like to do something for each staff member instead of a large event.\u00a0 Will meet with Sam to discuss further.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Development and Recognition <\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\">No updates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New Business<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kevin Campbell joined to discuss &#8211; How we can better support and encourage our staff?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Appreciative of university in how they handled the snow week with no power and no water and the inclement weather week.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this pandemic, we have all realized that our work can be done in different ways. We need to continue the flexible environment with zoom mtgs, working remotely, etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Staff senate has tried intentionally for a year to come up with ideas of how to appreciate and encourage the staff.\u00a0 We would like to plan something for May to let staff know that they are seen and appreciated.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students and faculty are looking forward to a week off during spring break.\u00a0 Staff get one day for Spring break \u2013 would it be possible for staff to have an extra day off to just have time to breathe.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Staff are missing physical interaction with the campus community.\u00a0 This can affect the well-being of each employee and our work output.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Community is what makes ACU special and one of a kind.\u00a0 Not sure how we could do this, but meet once a week at a different department.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have to be able to respect people\u2019s opinions and boundaries in daily life in our community.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Offer a mental health day to the staff \u2013 one or two days a year that they can take when they need.\u00a0 (one per semester)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What about vacation hours?\u00a0 We all have lost hours because of covid and non-travel.\u00a0 (we need to encourage all people to use their sick days and vacation days!\u00a0 That is what they are there for to use.\u00a0 Give people permission to use them. But right now, people are hoarding their sick days because they just don\u2019t know when they will need them.) Permission needs to be communicated from top-down. Supervisors need to encourage their staff.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Feeling overworked by \u201cnot normal job duties\u201d. \u00a0 Communication is key to all of this.\u00a0 SLT could write a personal note to staff members.
