Rebekah receiving the Outstanding Presentation Award from Dr. Sutherlin

Name: Rebekah Horton

Major: Marketing and English

Classification: Senior

Hometown: Weatherford, TX

Mentor: Dr. Paul Varner, Language and Literature

What I Study: Over the course of four years at ACU, I have been involved in a number of research projects. I have completed several research papers for my English classes, including a project over the organization of James Joyce’s “A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man.” And for my marketing classes, my classmates and I conducted research over topics stemming from product acceptance to consumer behavior.

Why I do research:  Research has always been fun for me – I like having a question and then hunting for the answer. It sort of makes me feel like a way less glamorous Indiana Jones (without the danger and snakes and super natural ancient artifacts). On a more practical level, having a background in research looks great on my resume (especially since I’m thinking about grad school) and is a very valuable skill to bring to any potential job.
