Remember the eraser-less pencils that were in the pew\u2026 the golf pencils?\u00a0 When I was a young boy, I decided that I was going to abscond with one.\u00a0 During the closing prayer when I knew everyone\u2019s eyes were closed, I reached down and grabbed one and put it in my pocket.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know why you\u2019d want a golf pencil, but I guess it was just something that I thought I needed to have.\u00a0 I don\u2019t remember if it was one of my older siblings or if it was mom sitting next to me that saw me do it, but boy as soon as that final \u201camen\u201d happened I learned that you don\u2019t take pencils from the church.\u00a0 There was no whipping involved or anything\u2026 but I definitely had to put it back and I had to endure a small, firm “sermonette” on trust, on stealing, and \u201cremember that this is God\u2019s House.\u201d<\/p>\n
