The Western Athletic Conference is committed to providing student-athletes an exemplary university experience on and off the field of play. With high standards of integrity at the core of its athletic and academic excellence, the WAC\u2019s goal is to unlock the potential of the nation\u2019s premier student-athletes and to prepare them to become the leaders of the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

The conference has member institutions in or near some of the nation\u2019s most diverse markets and largest metropolitan cities, including Los Angeles (#2), Dallas\/Fort Worth (#5), Phoenix (#11), Seattle (#13) and Salt Lake City (#30).<\/span><\/p>\n

WAC championship teams earn automatic NCAA Tournament bids in men\u2019s and women\u2019s basketball, baseball, softball, women\u2019s soccer and women\u2019s volleyball, and men\u2019s and women\u2019s tennis.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Western Athletic Conference was established July 27, 1962, as a six-team league including Arizona, Arizona State, Brigham Young, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.<\/span><\/p>\n

In men\u2019s basketball, the WAC has sent at least two teams to the NCAA Tournament in 28 of the past 45 seasons. In women\u2019s basketball, the WAC has had at least two teams qualify for the NCAA Tournament 10 times in 28 seasons, with a record five teams in 1998.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In baseball, the conference has boasted two national champions since 2003. The WAC also sent teams to three BCS football bowl games from 2007-10.<\/span><\/p>\n
