Camille Painter Turner, a JMC grad, sent me info on this story regarding attempts by Republicans in the House and Senate to stave off any reapplication of the Fairness Doctrine.
If it were re-imposed, I think the Supreme Court would overturn FCC v. Red Lion and say it’s unconstitutional. One of the primary justifications for the doctrine is the scarcity rationale, which is obsolete in the Internet age.
