Archive – 2011 Photo Contest

by

‘Images of Aging’ 2010-2011 was the first year for the Photo Contest.  The purpose was to provide an interdisciplinary venue to ACU students to encourage creative expression by combining an appreciation for older adults, a love for the art of photography, and the technological skill of digital media.

It was open from November 11, 2010 to January 31, 2011. Sponsors were Pruett Gerontology Center, The Learning Studio, and the Art Department.   All photos were required to include a minimum of one older adult of at least 60 years of age.  Be sure to click on the photo archives to see all the photos.

We are proud of the student response.  Students participated across campus  representing eight different departments: Sociology and Family Studies, Art and Design, Social Work, Journalism and Mass Communication, Psychology, Communication Science and Disorders, Exercise Science, and School of Information Technology and Computing.

There were five categories: black and white documentary, color documentary, black and white art, color art, and mobile device.  Judges determined First Place and Honorable Mention prize winners.

All the student participants, their department chairs, judges and select ACU dignitaries celebrated their accomplishments at a special awards luncheon.
