Touching up your Headshot in Adobe Lightroom

2:00 pm – 5:00 pm | Brown Library – 3rd Floor

Monday afternoon, Learning Studio staff will capture headshot photos upstairs in the library. Put your best foot forward on social media profiles or an upcoming resume. You’ll learn how to touch up photos and portraits using Adobe Lightroom. Participants will receive photo files and easy-to-follow instructions for editing their final headshot with Adobe Creative Cloud. 

This is a come and go event.

 

Tuesday, April 9:

Be Creative! (Hands-on Session)

1:00 pm – 4:00 pm | Maker Lab

There are many ways to express yourself through creative projects in the Maker Lab. Join us for this come and go hands-on session where you can create a personalized wooden coaster on the laser cutter, and/or custom vinyl stickers on the Silhouette cutting machine. Learn how to design and prepare your projects in Adobe Illustrator and walk away with your personalized coaster and/or vinyl sticker.

 

Wednesday, April 10:

Fostering Creativity in the Classroom (Open to ACU Faculty)

11:30 am – 1:00 pm | Adams Center

The World Economic Forum report, The Future of Jobs, identifies the top 10 essential skills for 2020. Ranking in the top three are 1) Complex Problem-Solving, 2) Critical Thinking, and 3) Creativity. The classroom is a great place to foster these skills, and more, through the use of innovative tools and creative software available at ACU. Join our panel of ACU Faculty as they discuss how creative software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, fosters creativity in students.

 

Thursday, April 11:

MakerFest

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm | ACU Maker Lab

This event will be held in the Maker Lab and Library Atrium and is open to EVERYONE. Admission is free, which includes many make-and-take activities, tool demonstrations and free refreshments.

We’re excited to have a wide variety of makers showcasing their creations, including: electronics projects, adaptive devices, plywood furniture, laser creations, textiles and many, many hand-crafted pieces. You won’t want to miss seeing any of these inspiring projects.

Maker Fest is a fun, family-friendly event open to all. Please feel free to share this invite with others and bring some friends. It’ll be a great time and enjoyable way to spend the evening. Hope to see YOU there.

Dr. Tony Dale | Healthcare Maverick | Telling Tony’s Story Through Filmmaking

Dr. Tony Dale is pioneering an incredible solution to the crisis that the American healthcare industry has created. We will view an episode of Jordan Bunch’s (class of 2009) hit web series “Mavericks” featuring Dr. Dale. Afterward, Jordan will open up a conversation about the revolutionary work that Dr. Dale and his company Sedera Heath are doing to fix our broken system and about the power of filmmaking to share critical stories like these.

 

Preparing for the Future in a Digital World (Alumni Panel)

2:00 pm – 3:00 pm | Hunter Welcome Center

While there is no universal definition of digital literacy, simply put, digital literacy is the ability to find, consume, use, create, communicate, and share digital content. It enables employees to navigate the digital world they live and work in and adapt to the ever-changing digital world. In this session, our panel of ACU Alumni will discuss how Abilene Christian University helped prepare them for success in their careers, and how they have been able to adapt in this digital age within their industry.
