Department Relocation

On March 5, it was officially announced to A&E students that their departmental home would be relocated from Zona Luce to the south wing of the Hardin Administration Building.

“The students are disappointed and feel unappreciated,” said Dr. Ed Brokaw, A&E Department Chair.

The A&E dept. has called Zona Luce their home for 26 years now. The move will take place Jan. 2013 before the start of the spring semester. Zona Luce will be renovated to house the new on-campus nursing school.

“This is a loss for us,” said Dr. Brokaw. “It may be the best choice for the university, but it is not the best choice for us.”

Dr. Brokaw said he is proud of the student response. They are respectfully asking hard questions of the university, looking for ways to make the transition while maintaining integrity.

The department met together for chapel on Tuesday to sing, read scripture, pray and share encouraging words as they prepare to band together and move forward.

“This is a reality that we have to live with,” said Dr. Brokaw. “The building does not make the department, the people make the department.”
