Cedar Creek Waterway Cleanup

On Saturday September 14, Dr. Cooke and Dr. Nicodemus organized a day to clean up the Cedar Creek Waterway here in Abilene. This was the second such project, the first was on March 2, 2013. The Cedar Creek Waterway runs from Kirby Lake to Lake Fort Phantom. It is approximately a 15 mile trail and most of the other creeks in Abilene feed into it at some point. More »

A New Year for the Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Club

Along with the new school year comes new officers for the Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Club (or AES Club). This year’s officers are President Will Morales, a junior Wildlife Management and Livestock Production major from Rotan, Texas, Vice President Bryce Gerlach, a senior Environmental Science major from Far Hills, New Jersey, and Chaplin Cade Deines, a Communications major from Cypress, Texas. A&E Study Abroad Trip to Zambia

1011948_10151705169757090_289757571_nThis summer our department sponsored a study abroad trip to Mumena, Zambia. The class offered was AENV 440, International Applications in Agricultural and Environmental Studies, and it focused on methods of sustainability in Zambia. The members of our department that went were Dr. Nicodemus, Jason Davis, Merissa Ford, senior Agribusiness major, Kim Panther, sophomore Animal Science major, and Dayna Roe, junior Environmental Science major.

Some of the highlights of the trip included visiting Victoria Falls and going on a safari, getting to stay in the local village and singing and dancing around a campfire with the locals. I even heard that Dr. Nicodemus is quite the dancer! More »
