Two years ago, the Supreme Court struck down the Child Online Protection Act because it limited adult access to pornography because children could access it, too. But it looks like the federal government is seeking to revive the law.
The Department of Justice for a year has been seeking records from Google — 1 million random Web addresses and records of all Google searches from any one-week period. The government says it needs the information to determine how often porn shows up in online searches. Yesterday they asked a federal court to force Google to turn over the data.
