Literacy Perspectives

Spotlight this week will introduce us to three approaches to literacy as a way of thinking. Dr. Cole Bennett, director of the Writing Center and chair of the department of Language and Literature, and Dr. Lauren Lemley, director of the Speaking Center and assistant professor of Communication, will discuss the importance of written and spoken communication to your work in and beyond college. Dr. Kyle Dickson, director of the Learning Studio and associate professor of Language and Literature, joins them to consider the ways digital media provide a kind of “third literacy” students need to leverage in producing messages for audiences around the world.

Their spotlight presentation will introduce students to a case study asking them to begin thinking, writing, and speaking about a new topic. Check back here after the Spotlight for Resources related to the presentation.
