ACU students, faculty and members of the broader Abilene community enjoyed the annual Maker Fest on April 5 in Maker Lab, the ACU Library’s makerspace.  The day was full of family-friendly showcases of invention, creativity, tinkering and learning.

Interactive maker workshops and exhibits offered software and tool demonstrations as well as show and tell presentations with hands on activities.  “This year was the first year that we scheduled inventor presentations,” says Darren Wilson, Maker Lab Coordinator, “The presentations were interesting and well attended!”

Mike Daugherty shared his electronics invention, Word Clock, that tells time with words instead of numbers, Brent Reeves’ invention connects families with Thoughts About You by use of lights, while Darby Hewitt’s presentation explored, Game Time, an invention using a small digital clock that adapts as a micro-gaming device.
