The library staff trimmed down their print collections this summer to make room for new material, however, out with the old and in with the new does not always apply where gifted books and collections are concerned.  Director of Technical Services, Shan (Pamplin ’86) Martinez, shares, “As we were working in the 530’s, the physics section, we came across books that were given to the library nearly 20 years ago by Dr. John Wheeler. He was a professor of physics at Princeton University and one of the last people to have studied with Albert Einstein.”

Dr. Wheeler was recognized as Friend of the Year at the annual Friends of ACU Library banquet in 1999, the same year that he entrusted his physics books to ACU Brown Library.  Several of the books contain his hand written notes within the margins and each book includes a special name plate.
