In January 2021, The Library started participating in an Evidence-Based Acquisitions (EBA) e-book purchasing model with Oxford University Press (27 subject areas), Cambridge University Press (33 subject areas), and Brill Publishing (Religion, Theology, Philosophy). Evidence-Based Acquisition is a model where we can access a large number of e-book titles from the publishers and then purchase a subset of the titles at the end of the calendar year for a set amount of money based on title usage by our students and faculty. The list price value of the e-book collections available to our students through this model totals over eight million dollars. With this purchasing model, selectors can see what topics are of interest to our students and faculty that can guide us in future purchases of book titles. These publishers’ user interfaces allow for DRM-free access to the books offered, which will be appreciated by our students.
