What Were the Correct Answers?
This problem is from Tamar Malinek, by way of Marilyn vos Savant, Sunday Parade Magazine (Abilene Reporter News.)
Mrs. Smith, a teacher, gave five students a make-up science test. There were five questions on the test. However after grading the tests, she lost the answer sheet and her grade book. She does know that someone got all five correct, someone got only four correct, someone got only three correct, somebody else got only two correct, and one person got only one answer right. She doesn’t know which student received which score. Here are the test papers:
Todd: | (1) eggs | (2) evaporation | (3) alligator | (4) potato | (5) teeth |
Sean: | (1) milk | (2) transportation | (3) alligator | (4) kangaroo | (5) teeth |
Samantha: | (1) eggs | (2) transportation | (3) crocodile | (4) kangaroo | (5) ears |
Ryan: | (1) eggs | (2) evaporation | (3) alligator | (4) kangaroo | (5) teeth |
Allison: | (1) milk | (2) transportation | (3) crocodile | (4) kangaroo | (5) ears |
