Peer Review Week 2019 is going on right now, September 16th – 20th. This is year five of this annual event. This event celebrates the essential role that peer review plays in maintaining the quality of scholarly articles and scientific research.

A few reasons why the peer review process is important for scholarly publishing: they can improve the quality of research, other scholars can make sure all the information is laid out in a comprehensible way, and they can be a primary defense against flawed research & the publication of misleading research articles.
