E. Meeting with Senior Leadership Team
Previously, senate submitted questions to the SLT and a representative would meet with us to answer the questions.

D’Angelo is waiting to hear if the SLT would be willing to meet with us.
Karen: Did we share that we wish to share the results of the survey.
Steve: We have information to share with you and all members of the SLT need to hear it.
Shannon: I appreciate you working to make sure staff has a voice with the SLT
D’Angelo: The purpose is to establish a connection and for them to expect that we would meet at least once a year with them to share thoughts and concerns.
Karen: That is a nebulous idea. Is there an agenda to accomplish? It is their time too and they need to make sure that it is productive.
D’Angelo: I mean a working relationship. The survey is a starting point. Staff Senate is not in the communication loop the same way that Faculty Senate is. The idea is that there are some staff members on SLT so they say that there is staff representation. We want Staff Senate representation. Members of Faculty senate are invited to sit in on SLT meetings without an agenda.
Julie: Why did we come up with the survey in the first place?
Steve: The staff wanted it to communicate staff feedback to SLT.
Curtis: How frequently do they meet and how often are we seeking to be a part of that?
D’Angelo: We want representation every meeting the same way faculty senate members have.
Brad: I am not sure that faculty senate representation is continuous
Steve: I think that was driven by the chair of the faculty senate.
D’Angelo: We are looking at having the Chair and Chair Elect to attend those meetings if permission is granted.

F. Scheduled Meetings Between Chair and Leadership
August 24 – D’Angelo will meet with the Board of Trustees
In the process of setting up a date and time monthly to meet with Dr. Schubert. He will also set a date for Dr. Schubert to talk to us. D’angelo will make us aware prior to his meetings with Dr. Schubert so we may submit questions.
Karen: Will we have survey data prior to the Board meeting
Steve: I think we dangle it in front of them. Let them know we have information coming.
Curtis: This survey still feels like what can the university do for us. We talked earlier about thinking about ideas that don’t demand University resources. If you bury solutions in concerns and frustrations, you are going to get concerns and frustrations.
Karen: I think that is part of our job to encourage staff to come up with solutions that boost morale and come up with solutions. I think even letting them know that we are compiling information from the staff, we are just trying to figure out where the staff are.
Mary Beth – What if we have people that want to share not using their user name.
MC – Can we provide hard copies?
Cindy: Could we have hard copies at the presession?
Karen: someone will have to enter all that data.
MB- I think if we see hesitation, we could offer a hard copy.
Steve – we could tell them
Berlin – How do we define staff since some people are classified as faculty and staff, what about administrators?
Karen: How are we generating the email list?
Brad: We get the staff list from Human Resources?
Karen: If they self-identify as staff, I think we accept it.
Brad: I think we talk to Wendy to see if we can have a commercial at presession (D’Angelo) to clarify this is coming from Staff Senate, not HR. The more people who do it digitally, the better the integrity of the data.
D’Angelo – I will confirm today that we can have 15 seconds at presession

G. Town Halls – Name Change
We want to change the name to inform people what the agenda for these gatherings are.
Think of different ways to gather information from staff.
Julie: Coach Jones raised all the money for the tennis building
MB:
Julie: Our golf coach also raised all the money for the new golf facility
Shannon: We can also share about the Student care fund.
