Friedrich Nietzsche

I found that Nietzsche was a very intelligent man growing up and his relationships are what shaped him and his writing. After his father died he was left with a lot of women For example, when Lou rejected his proposal twice he finally went into a depression and he ended up writing Zarathustra which seemed to be like an autobiography. Nietzsche took a lot of his everyday life and belief systems and morphed them into his well known ideas today.  When he claimed the statement “God is Dead” he was referring to the philosophers who took a view that we are alone in this universe because we get our knowledge from the universe.

The way Nietzsche uses his experiences and beliefs to develop ideas that are still prominent today and still firmly believed in my many is a huge accomplishment even though I think that he is a bit radical but true in his ideals.

I love that he used his experience to shape his philosophical ideas. I think that this is really the best way to to come up with a strong sense of what you believe.

I firmly believe that our experiences shape our world view. If only we’ve only had dark experiences, it is very difficult to see a light. Nietzshce had a very dark life, and is very pessimistic about life and hope.

I agree as well. I feel that our experiences are what help define who we are. Also, I bet that life with out a father was probably much differnet then in today’s society.

I get a kick out of Nietzsche’s statement that “God was dead and that we had killed him” (pg 223). This guy was an odd fellow but like you have said Nietzsche has well reasoned arguments to his opponents and because of that we can see the ripples of his work.

I really liked how his work paralleled and translated into Freudian theories. Their work focused on controlling powerful, irrational impulses. I think if we know how our experiences will shape us, it would shape the way we approach life. we might try harder to avoid those urges or experiences that would not make us better people.

You know what they say…experience shapes who we are as people. I know that my own personal experiences in life have shaped me into the person I’ve become now. There’s another saying that comes to mind about this. “Experience is the harshest teacher…first she tests you and then gives you the lesson.”

I find Nietzsche’s statement of “God was dead and that we had killed him” to be a little strange until I read on. Its almost a disturbing message however, he has reason behind everything he states.

There is so much Psychology behind Nietzsche’s ideas on empiricism. It is clear that our experiences make an impact on who we are as people as well as the lessons we learn and the experiences we take from life. I guess what interests me is that its appears the Nietzsche was on the nurture side of the debate wholeheartedly.
