ABILENE CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY
Vocational formation
Your WHAT is important.
Your WHY is more important.
Vocation at ACU
Vocation at ACU is all about recognizing who you are, who you’re becoming, and how you are participating in God’s purposes for the world. ACU has long cared about its students holistically, but has made some intentional efforts in the last few years to help build that language and tell that story across campus. From experiential learning, to the classroom, to student life, ACU has opportunities in place for students to build a strong foundation for a future of professionalism and servant leadership throughout the world, all for God’s glory.
Vocation at ACU
Vocation? Isn’t that just my career?
Great question. But actually, no. The word vocation comes from the latin word vocare which means “to call”. The origins of this word can be traced back to Martin Luther (1883) and even John Calvin (1574). When they referenced this word, their use tied into the Calling that Christians receive from God. So vocation does not just mean, or apply to, your career; it encompasses every role you live out and how you integrate them with God’s calling, or purposes, for the world.
