Monday, Sept. 17, the A&E department hosted an Agriculture Missions Luncheon at Hillcrest Church of Christ. Representatives from a Zambia mission and Helping Hands International spoke to students regarding holistic mission efforts.

Jason Davis (’10) spoke of his recent experience in a Zambia mission field. After graduating from ACU with an animal science degree, he and his wife, Erin, joined some of his family in Zambia. He spoke of the introduction of animal production and key points of sustainability.

“Jesus Christ is transforming lives,” said Davis. “Keep praying for the farmers in Zambia.”

Jason and his wife have since moved back to Abilene. He will be serving as the new farm manager at Rhoden Farm.

Carl Burkybile is the Director of Agriculture at Helping Hands International. He spoke of the work his team is doing with disaster relief, water filtration, medical
supplies and education. More specifically he discussed topics such as raised
bed gardens, drip irrigation and food security workshops.

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:13-14
