Remarks

The majority of my presentations can be traced back to the exposure the MAA Focus article received.  Shortly after the article was published I received an invitation to speak at the 22nd annual ICTCM conference. The talk was well received by attendees and attracted the attention of Texas Instruments.  I was placed in contact with a representative of their higher education team.  Over the next few years I was able to meet with TI on multiple occasions to discuss the place of the graphing calculator in the mobile platform.  In fact, when we first started meeting Texas Instruments was not committed to a mobile product, but over the next year they restructured their corporation and are apparently pursuing mobile integration.  Several representatives were sent to observe my presentation at the ICTCM 2012 meeting.  This has been a very rewarding experience to feel like my work matters to a wide range of people from industry leaders, other professors, and students.

Since the Chicago meeting in 2010, I have been asked to serve on multiple faculty panels both here at ACU and abroad.  I was approached earlier this year about helping direct a workshop focusing on the implementation of mobile learning tools in mathematics education.  I was able to work with Dr. Lila Roberts from Clayton State University and Dr. Phylis Bolin to deliver a high quality experience for attendees.  After the pre-session I received multiple requests for presentation materials and was approached by the conference to implement a similar workshop at the 2013 meeting in Boston.  In addition to their gracious offer, just recently I was asked to serve on the Executive Program Committee for the 2013 meeting, which I accepted.
