Born and raised in Stephenville, Texas, Scotty Elston (’83) grew-up on his family-owned dairy and hay farm. His appreciation and passion for agricultural science developed from a young age.
Elston graduated with a B.S. in Agricultural-Business. Later he graduated from Texas A&M University’s Department of Agricuture economics Executive Program for Acricultural Producers.
His professional career began in 1983 with the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank in Austin in the agricultural loan audit department. This institution was a part of the Farm Credit System and the funding bank in Texas for Production Credit Associations.
In 1984 Elston went to work for Stephenville Production Credit Association in Ft. Worth as an ag lending officer; moved to Stephenville in 1992 with Stephenville PCA, and then to Lubbock in 2000 when the company name changed to AgTexas Farm Credit Services.
Elston is currently the Chief Credit Officer for AgTexas Farm Credit Services serving in that role since 2000. He has been with Farm Credit his entire career working with Farmers and Ranchers on the finance side of their business. He is also serving on the Board of the National Farm Financial Standards Council as well as on the Shallowater ISD Board of Trustees.
Elston has been married to his beautiful wife Cindy Shaw Elston (’83) for 24 years. They have two children. Elizabeth Diane Elston is 19 years old and a sophomore at ACU majoring in Musical Theatre. Connor Shaw Elston is 15 years old and a freshman at Shallowater High School.
The Elston family has attended Monterey Church of Christ in Lubbock for 10 years where they are actively involved in the life of the church
