The Food and Fiber Marketing class, taught by Dr. Mills, took their annual field trip to Lubbock on October 26-27, visiting various factories and warehouses.

Some of the places they visited were Llano Warehousing and United Supermarkets, Apply County Orchards, Golden Peanut Company, Breedlove Food Inc. and American Cotton Growers Denim Mill.

ACU A&E graduate Joseph Bunting is the Produce Category Manager at United Supermarket and was able to give the group a tour of the warehouse.

“My favorite part of the trip was the student responses to the learning experience,” said Dr. Mills. “It is always amazing to see the transformation in student perceptions of food and fiber marketing as the trip unfolds.”

Kyle Bridges, a junior Argibusiness major from Marble Falls, Texas, especially enjoyed the time spent at the Cotton Mill.

“We got to see the raw cotton and follow it through the huge factory. We saw every step until it was a sheet of denim being shipped to the stores,” said Bridges. “It was an eye-opening experience.”
