  1. Nil Santana on Mitzi's Best Photos
    8:26 am, 10.22.10

Mitzi! Your words/comments from Saturday morning still resonate in my mind. But look at these images, they are great, except this time I am quite sure you knew what you were doing. Once you follow those little technical and compositional steps, photography turns into an exercise on how we look at things.

These are all great, but I must highlight the photograph of the dog, and the railroad track for its simplicity.

These are great, Bill!! I want that Tilt&Shift app. :)

I second Kyle’s comment here. Truly amazing the image quality that the new phones have achieved, with such a small lens and sensor. On the other hand, some apps have provided neat image adjustment and effects.

  3. Nil Santana on Billie's Shots
    8:29 pm, 10.18.10

Hi Billie — very good images here. I like the play with words on those signs, as it takes some keen observation to compose the shot. I also think your wife’s portrait turned out very good. The soft light from the window provided a nice tone variation.

Thanks for sticking your neck out, and showing some of your pictures. :)

  4. Nil Santana on Sharing Your Best
    4:09 pm, 10.17.10

I just wanted to let you all know that Tecia and I had a fantastic time in Gruene this weekend. It was such a wonderful experience to know you, and share some thoughts about photography, about the image making process. The picture of Richard (by Kyle) translates really well everyone’s attitude and engagement. Please feel free to email me and continue with the discussions.

    Thanks for your enthusiasm!

  5. Nil Santana on Gruene Weekend Overview
    3:14 pm, 10.13.10

    Sounds great Kyle!

This is not a requirement for the photography workshop, but I’d encourage everyone to bring other kinds of cameras that you have available (besides cellphones). I’ve found great fun photographing with disposable cameras from Wallmart, etc. Just a thought!

  6. Nil Santana on Favorites from Richard

Richard, night shooting is always challenging due to the low light condition, but it’s great when you get a good one. I particularly like the photo with the water-tower in the background. The yellow-colored light bulb adds a nice contrasting tone to the purple color from stage lighting… and keep in mind that you can adjust the brightness of this image just a little bit so the elements don’t seem too disconnected. Great shot!
