The Shinnery Review will begin accepting submissions for the 2021 issue in October. Check back for updates on the next issue.

Send us your original poetry, short stories, creative nonfiction pieces, photography, or artwork.

We accept submissions from all ACU undergraduate, from all majors. Chosen submissions will be featured in the 2021 issue of the magazine, which will be released at the end-of-the-semester’s Black Tulip event. Authors whose work is published will be invited to read from their work at the Black Tulip. To see last year’s magazine, visit our Issue Archives page.

Deadline: March 2021

How to Submit:

Please send all submissions to Include your name and contact information in the body of the e-mail, but leave all contact information off of the submission itself. We will let you know if your work is accepted to the magazine by mid- to late March.

For all written work: please send as an attachment in .doc or .docx format. If you are submitting multiple poems or pieces, please send each as a separate document.

For all photography and artwork: please send as an attachment in .jpg or .pdf format. If you are submitting multiple pieces, please send each as a separate attachment. (tip: especially for artwork and photography, we love creative titles!)

-For all digital films/audio recordings: please send as an attachment in the video format you’ve exported the piece in. If you have uploaded the video to YouTube or Vimeo, you can send us a link to the online content for submission purposes; if your video is accepted, however, we would like the actual file submitted to us to embed in the final posting to the blog.
