Updates From Across the Pond

To the Agricultural and Environmental Science Department,

Mandy Wilson and I (Erika Carley) are having a wonderful, brilliant experience in Oxford, England! We are studying abroad up until May 11, 2011 and we are already sad to think about leaving this culturally rich place. This has been an opportunity of a lifetime! As of now, we have traveled all around England, including London, and have just recently returned back from a trip to Scotland. The architecture is beautiful and elaborate, the scenery is mesmerizing and breathtaking, and the people are genuine and open. The history of old rings through every facet of life here. More »

Internship Program

If you are a sophomore, junior, or senior majoring in IPM, Entomology, soil and crop sciences, plant pathology, or a related field you may be eligible to be one of Texas IPM’s summer interns.  You could earn an hourly wage plus a $1000 training stipend.  The internship also includes housing and travel expenses.  There are urban agriculture positions available.  Contact Mandy Scudder at scudderm@acu.edu for more information or visit http://ipm.tamu.edu/internships.

2011 SAAS Convention

Five of our A&E students, Spencer Fox, Tiffany Lutz, Melinda Brown, Ashley Simon and Jessica Cosby, participated in the Southern Association of Agricultural Scientists (SAAS) Convention in Corpus Christi, Texas February 5-8.  This association provides students the opportunity to share papers derived from their own research and to exchange knowledge with other young scientists.

A&E students made several research presentations during the conference.  Fox, senior environmental science major from Houston, presented on the topic of the two-year comparison of warm season legume production with and without drip irrigation in the summer in a semiarid region of west Texas. More »
