2011 Spring Awards Banquet

A&E’s annual Spring Awards Banquet took place Thursday, May 5 at University Church of Christ.  This was a time to recognize the 2011 graduates, congratulate those who have won special departmental awards and to welcome the incoming Alpha Epsilon Sigma, AES, officers for the upcoming school year. 

The department was honored to have Dr. Nancy Shankle, the Associate Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences, in attendance as well as the A&E faculty and staff. 

The A&E department proudly recognizes the following students who participated in undergraduate research:

  • Melinda Brown, sophomore environmental major from San Antonio
  • Spencer Fox, senior environmental science major from Houston
  • Ashley Simon, senior animal science major from Lockhart, Texas
  • Tiffany Lutz, junior animal science major from Zelienople, Pa.

As the ’10-’11 school year comes to an end, we are excited to welcome the new AES officers for next year.  They are as follows:

  • President            Colton McInturff
  • Vice President   Grant Lawrence
  • Secretary             Anabel Reid
  • Reporter              Jessica Epps
  • Treasurer            Cody Gerlach
  • Social Director   Emilee Shamblin
  • Chaplin                 Ian Merriman

Ashley Simon was this year’s recipient of the Willard Paine Award for her outstanding academic work as well as her service and leadership within the department, university, community and church. 

The department also recognized the new Delta Tau Alpha president, Kyle Ferrell as well as the new Block and Bridle president, Tiffany Lutz.  Thank you students for all of your hard work and dedication to your chosen field of study and to this department.
