Dissertation Title: “Assessing the Impact of Information Structure and Availability in Surveillance Processes”
This dissertation addresses the need to better understand the implications of information structures and their impact on decision outcomes in organizational processes. The research conducted in this dissertation considers how information and information technologies restructure organizations and define decision outcomes in surveillance processes. The overall focus of this work and related research supports current interests in the economics of information based on the characteristics and availability of relevant information. This research effort establishes a basis for studying the development of social structures that emerge through adaptations to information availability and requirements as well as privacy/security issues in information exchanges, specifically within the domain of public health and bioterrorism surveillance.
