Nil Santana on Blues in Gruene
9:00 am, 10.24.11
Nice, as usual!! Great compositions here, in particular the tight crops on Gruene Hall shots.

Bob — you got the idea. You can try this other times.
I like them. Your shots are more about hiding than revealing, that is also a great concept in photography. Keep me posted and let me see other shots if you ever try it again. Glad you could join us!
Nil Santana on Donald's Light Painting and more...

Nice work as usual, Donald. Thanks for inspiring all of us, and for making this event possible as well.

Tracy — I like the tight crop on the first shot. Although we don’t see the whole ruin, what is revealed on the photo suggests me what it should look like on its entirety. I also like the way the light is coming from the interior, as reminiscent of the live activity that used to be there. A ghost of sorts. :)
Nil Santana on Brady Bryce iPhone - Bridges
8:49 am, 10.22.10
I don’t mean to centralize the comments in this blog, but first, I want to make sure I have a chance to write some feedback for each of you; second, it is really hard for me to not say any word when I see a shot like this.
Brady, I am sure you realized there were so many challenges in this picture: light reading, depth-of-field, where to focus; just to name a few. When I first saw this image, the structure of the bridge seemed to dominate the composition, but once I noticed the spiderweb and the person standing by the river in the background, I can’t move my eye from them. Again, it takes keen observation for such image to happen.
Great shot!
Nil Santana on Pics from Bob

Bob, I really enjoy the mix between color and b&w here–in particular the shot of the river. I am sure the decision to “remove” color was not an easy one, as you were probably persuaded by the vibrant green and brown tones. But look at this image, I see light and shadows, and not only how they make photography possible (from a technical perspective) but also from an aesthetic quality.
On the other hand, there’s an interior shot from the Mansion that I think is wonderful as well. Great colors, light, and exposure.
Nil Santana on Jana's photos
8:31 am, 10.22.10
Jana, you mentioned that you’ve been taking photos for a few years, that is confirmed by the sophisticated compositions in these images. However, I am glad you were challenged to ’tilt’ the camera a little bit for a slightly more dramatic composition. It really works! :)
Great pics!
Nil Santana on Two more shots

Thanks for all your time and effort putting this together, Kyle. I definitely have enjoyed the interaction with colleagues outside my area. And it is great to see what they can produce. There’s lots of talent in our campus.
I was surprised to see the Milky Way in the shot. I guess it’s safe to say the lights you see on the horizon are from Albany, and Abilene on the right.

I love this shot as well. I think you’re right, I can see the little red lights from the windmills too.
