On-Campus Discussions to Feature U.S. Reps. Poe, Hahn

The two ACU alumni serving in the U.S. House of Representatives will return to their alma mater together on Tuesday, Sept. 25. Ted Poe, a Republican representing the Houston area, and Janice Hahn, a Democrat representing the Los Angeles area, will appear at a 9:30 a.m. forum in Cullen Auditorium to discuss civil discourse in public life, then speak in a special Chapel at 11 a.m. in Hart Auditorium about the intersection of faith and politics in their lives. Both events are free, and the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions at the Cullen forum.

Faculty/Staff Campaign

An anonymous donor has given ACU $7,000 as part of the employee giving campaign to pass out to departments with the highest giving percentage and individuals who have given since June 1. Be watching your mailboxes this week for a postcard detailing the incentives being offered. If you haven’t already, you can set up a payroll deduction or make a one-time gift today and be eligible to win.

Faculty/Staff Meeting with Dr. Schubert

All faculty and staff are encouraged to attend one of two meetings with Dr. Schubert in which he and members from the Senior Leadership Team will share some important updates. The same material will be presented at each meeting. They are scheduled for Monday, Sept. 24, from noon-1 p.m. and 4-5 p.m. in the Teague Special Events Center.

Attention!  The newest Banner HR Upgrade that took place on 9/12/12 made some format changes to your time sheet and pay stub.  Each document now contains grid lines to make reading them much easier!  The pay stub now also includes year to date information.  Please take some time now, and after every pay day to review your pay stub by following these steps:

Dr. Houston Heflin Releases New Resource on Teaching the Bible

Dr. Houston Heflin, Assistant Professor in the College of Biblical Studies, has just released a new book through ACU Press, “Teaching Eutychus: Engaging Today’s Learners with Passion and Creativity.” This book celebrates the hard work of volunteers who give

Homecoming Golf Faculty/Staff Discount

ACU faculty and staff can save $25 on the entry fee for the Homecoming golf tournament. Register by next Tuesday, Sept. 17, and pay only $75. The entry fee includes golf, ACU gear and lunch catered by Joe Allen’s. New! Advanced Family Mediation Training

Prerequisite: 40-Hour Basic Mediation Training
All faculty and staff are invited to attend the Duncum Center’s advanced family mediation training 10/22- 10/24 for a discounted rate of $300. The 30-hour advanced mediation training builds on the 40-Hour Basic Mediation Training and focuses on family law, family dynamics, domestic violence, child development, ethical and practical considerations. Trainers include family attorney and mediator Patty Wenetschlaeger and several special guest speakers. 28.5 CEUs and MCLEs will be awarded. 40-Hour Basic Mediation Training

All faculty and staff are invited to attend the Duncum Center’s mediation training 10/22- 10/26 for a discounted rate of $350. Trainers will be Joe L. Cope, J.D. and Lori Anne Shaw. Participants will learn to identify sources of conflict and facilitate productive negotiations and mediations. 37.25 hours of (2.35 ethics) CEUs, MCLEs, and PHR, SPHR and GPHRs will be awarded.
