Log in to your BCBSTX BAM (Blue Access for Members) account at www.bcbstx.com to view your HCA (Health Care Account) balance, view your EOBs, and view your medical & prescriptions claims.

During Benefits Annual Enrollment we discussed the fact that ACU has begun the process of  terminating two of our frozen retirement plans. We have confirmation that the IRS has received our request, however until the IRS issues the determination letters we are still in a holding pattern. What you can do during this time is review the FAQ’s we have developed. The FAQ document will be updated as information is received. The Abilene Christian cheerleaders will host their annual Junior Cheerleading Camp on Saturday, Feb. 9, at ACU’s Teague Center. The camp is designed for kids ages 5-10 and runs from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Registration is $18 per child if payment is received by Jan. 31 and $20 if received afterward.  Camp participants will receive a certificate of completion, ACU T-shirt, and opportunity to cheer at halftime of the ACU women’s basketball game held later that day vs. Tarleton State at 5:30 p.m.

On Jan. 1, 2013, Congress passed the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 (H.R. 8). The legislation does not include an extension of the 2 percent payroll tax cut of the Social Security (FICA) employee tax. The employee-paid portion of the Social Security FICA tax increased on all wage earners from 4.2 percent to 6.2 percent beginning Jan. 1, 2013. The portion of the tax paid by employers remained at 6.2 percent of employee wages. ACU’s Non-Exempt employees saw this increase in taxes on the Jan. 15 payroll, and Exempt employees will see the increase in taxes on the Feb. 1 payroll.

Please join Dr. Schubert for a faculty/staff meeting on Feb. 11, from 4-5 p.m. in Hart Auditorium. The purpose of this meeting is to provide you an opportunity to ask questions, get information about topics of interest, and maybe even dispel rumors around campus. It will be an informal chance for us to share information with the president. Please note, if you are unable to attend one of today’s meetings,  a third meeting has been added on Feb. 14, from 3-4 p.m. in Hart Auditorium.

New courses areadded every week.

Access the lynda.com library 24/7—even from your iPhone, iPad, Android device, or mobile phone—and watch entire courses or single tutorial videos as you need them. Exercise files let you follow along with the instruction as you learn, and bookmarks help you keep track of what you’d like to watch.

Libby Embry taught middle school English in Abilene for 23 years. At 59, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Listen to her story, how this disease changed her life, how she has coped.
