Apple released its new operating system OS X 10.10, also known as Yosemite, on Thursday, October 16th. This update may potentially cause problems ranging from software incompatibility to rendering the machine unusable. If you choose to upgrade, be aware that there is limited support we can provide until we receive updates to our supported software. We are in the process of testing our software, systems, and services with this update. Once all issues have been identified and resolved, we will begin supporting this update.

During Graduate School Awareness Week, Oct 20 – 25, 2014, we hope you will take some time to reflect on the opportunities for you after graduation here at Abilene Christian University with the Graduate School.Throughout the week, there will be events and activities for you to participate in to learn more about the Graduate School. Events include, specific program lunch informationals, a GRE Prep Course, and professional development events. Employees & their spouses (if applicable) who are covered on ACU’s plan and choose to have a preventive exam between October 1, 2013 and October 31, 2014 will pay a lower monthly premium in calendar year 2015 than those who choose not to. The 2015 premium rates will be determined later this year, and they will be announced in annual enrollment meetings in the fall. It’s that simple. ACU Risk Management Department is proud to partner with The University Risk Management and Insurance Association (URMIA) to announce the launch of a week dedicated to value of risk management in higher education. Taking place November 3- 7 2014, Risky Business: A Week Focusing on Risk Management in Higher Education aims to build awareness of how risk management can provide innovative and effective solutions to the challenges facing institutions of higher education in the pursuit of their academic, social, and economic goals.  The week will also forge campus relationships to create a culture of risk management to better protect individuals served by our institution.  Please mark you calenders to take part in discussions highlighting the goals of risk management and the latest risks facing  higher education.  Be on the look-out for more information as the date gets closer.

After 21 years of service, Dr. MaLesa Breeding is retiring from ACU.  Come celebrate Lesa and her accomplishments at a come-and-go Retirement Reception, Friday, Oct. 31, 2:30-3:30 p.m., Campus Center Living Room, with presentations at 2:45 p.m.

Effective Oct. 13, Dr. Schubert has appointed Cory Driskill as Interim Director of Athletics while the search is being conducted for a replacement for Jared Mosley. Cory has been affiliated with ACU since 2008 in assistant and associate Director of Athletics roles.

ACU has implemented a new policy for employee receivables.  The Employee Receivables policy can be located online in the employee handbook and is effective immediately.  Please take a minute to review the policy.  If you have any questions, contact Sal Palacio at sxp12a@acu or extension 2846.

The University Procurement office and warehouse will be closed from Noon to 5:00pm on Friday October 17th, Fall Break Day. There will not be any deliveries made that afternoon. We will however, be accepting in-coming shipments that morning. If you are expecting an overnight shipment or need a package, call the office at 2246 to arrange retrieval either by delivery or pick up. There will not be a 2:00 package pick up that day; any out-going UPS and FedEx packages can be dropped off at the appropriate locations at the Campus Center.
