Dr. Don Barwick provides our clients with expertise in operations, people/ organization and technology and has over 15 years of experience in higher education. Don began his career in higher education at the Texas Agricultural Extension Services, a member of the Texas A&M University System (TAMUS), in procurement services. He then served as the assistant director of purchasing for Texas A&M University-Commerce. After his tenure at Texas A&M University- Commerce, Don served as the records management officer, special projects officer and procurement manager for the Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) offices.

Don spearheaded several important initiatives during his tenure at the TAMUS. He streamlined procurement functions; ensured that minority and women-owned business received equal access and equal opportunity to provide goods/services to member institutions across the state of Texas; managed and coordinated records retention efforts, implemented an enterprise content management (ECM) system; and led the design, development and deployment of an e-procurement system across the TAMUS.

Don received his B.A. in English and his B.A. in History from Texas A&M University, his M.A. in History from Arkansas State University and is Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Texas A&M University. Don and his wife Anna reside with their daughter in College Station, Texas.

The ACU Engineering and Physics Department welcomes Dr. Chris Monroe on Tuesday, March 21st.  He will lecture in Hallbert-Walling Room 101 from 6-10 p.m.  This is an open lecture for anyone.  The details for his lecture are below.

PUBLIC LECTURE
TITLE: Quantum Technology: Putting Weirdness to Use
ABSTRACT:  Quantum information science in the 21st century links two pillars
of 20th century thought: information theory and quantum mechanics.  This new field exploits the bizarre features of quantum mechanics —  uncertainty,entanglement, and measurement — to perform tasks that are impossible using conventional means, such as computing with unseemly amounts of data, and teleportation of quantum systems over remote distances.  We anticipate that exotic quantum hardware such as individual trapped atoms, quantum dots in solids, and superconducting loops of wire will not only find their way into 21st century technology, but they will also bring quantum weirdness to the forefront and stimulate new ways of thinking about foundational aspects of the physical world.

Join us for Maker Fest, a free event and open to the public, March 30,  3-8 p.m.  Activities are planned for all ages!  Enjoy hands on activities, show and tell, tool demonstrations, maker presentations, and a new activity…the QUADCOPTER CHALLENGE!  Bring your quadcopter and have fun navigating through a set of obstacles in our indoor course.

Monday, March 27, 2017 from 4:00-5:30 p.m. at Chapel on the Hill:  Australian biblical scholar Dr. Claire Smith will discuss her book, God’s Good Design:  What the Bible Really Says About Men and Women.  The book interprets key Bible passages about men and women and their relationships at home and in church.  Dr. Smith also narrates the story of changes in her life when she noticed parts of the Bible that challenged previous views.  Dr. Everett Ferguson, ACU Professor of Church History Emeritus, will offer a response.  This event is sponsored by the Center of Heritage and Renewal in Spirituality (CHARIS) at ACU and is open to the public.  A reception will follow the discussion.
