Policy Point: Policy 450 – Substantive Change

by   |  05.01.19  |  Events

Based on new requirements from our regional accreditor (SACSCOC), ACU has a adopted a new Substantive Change policy. Substantive change is a federal term for any “significant modification of the nature and scope of an accredited institution.” This new policy applies to all levels and across the university in regard to anyone wishing to make a substantive change as more specifically defined by the policy (e.g., opening or closing an academic programs, initiating a new off campus site, entering into a consortium agreement). All substantive changes require ACU to notify SACSCOC and in some cases receive SACSCOC approval before implementation.  If you have questions after reviewing the policy, please contact Chris Riley, ACU’s SACSCOC Liaison.
