SOAR Student Support

by   |  03.30.20  |  Announcements

Please continue to use the SOAR recommendation form if you see a student struggling.

SOAR continues to help connect students with the MACCC, and SOAR will work with the MACCC to get a student scheduled at an affordable rate, if cost is an issue. If the student is needing some personal and emotional support but not at the individual therapy level, our SOAR team will connect with these students via Google Hangouts.

If a student is facing barriers accessing immediate living needs such as food, housing, clothing, or transportation please submit a recommendation to SOAR. Each recommendation will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, but frequently these students are good candidates for help from the Katie Kirby Student Care Fund.

SOAR is also helping provide students with support and connection to campus partners as usual such as financial aid, University Access Programs, etc. They are working with students via email/phone and Google Hangouts when a more extensive conversation is needed.

You can access it from a web browser, installed application, or a mobile client. In addition to direct messages, you can create chat rooms where multiple people can communicate together in threads. Student Employees

Student employees who are currently working should be logging their hours as normal. Those who were not able to work during March 16 – April 9 should log their normal work schedule on the “Campus Closure” line on their timesheet. Beginning April 10, only students who are completing work should be logging those hours on their timesheets. It is critical that student timesheets are actually verified and approved by the supervisor.
