The City of Abilene has invited ACU faculty, staff, and students to provide input to the City’s 20-year Comprehensive Plan. This is an excellent opportunity for the ACU community to help shape Abilene over the next two decades. Research in virtual reality has demonstrated many key advantages over conventional presentation styles. The Innovation Foundry has partnered with several classes at ACU to bring virtual reality. Abilene has been designated as a Vaccine HUB for COVID vaccines in Taylor county. This means that currently, the state is routing Abilene’s vaccines to the health department for distribution. Anyone who thinks they might qualify as a 1B (people 65 years of age and older OR people 16 years of age and older with at least one chronic medical condition that puts them at increased risk for severe illness from the virus that causes COVID-19) should submit their information to the City of Abilene’s 1B Request Form. This form places you on the waitlist to be vaccinated.
Once ACU receives the vaccine, we will announce the Medical Clinic’s distribution plans.

The ACU Brown Library will launch a web-based survey called LibQUAL on Monday, February 1, 2021 to solicit, track, understand, and act upon your opinions of library services. LibQUAL will measure the impact of service, information control, and the library as a place. The data received from the survey will enable the library to assess whether its services are meeting your expectations and provide guidance for the library as it embarks upon a new strategic plan. Your participation in the survey will help the library assess and improve library services. This is an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to tell the library where they need to improve so that they can better respond to and better manage your expectations. As a way of saying THANK YOU for participating and completing the LibQUAL survey, the library will conduct a drawing for numerous prizes to be announced on Monday, March 1, 2021.
What questions do you have about Covid and the vaccine? Family First welcomes you to a live Zoom session on January 27th from 12-1 pm with Beth Daugherity. Beth is a former chemist who is working on her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Texas Tech. She is presently working in the laboratory of Dr. Magdalena Karbowniczek with the Department of Immunotherapeutics and Biotechnology in Abilene. Beth lends us her knowledge about Covid and the vaccine through this Q&A session. The session will also be recorded and posted at a later date.
