December 2022 Honor Award Nominations

You are invited to nominate students for the December 2022 Honor Awards! Click on this link to view a list of the eligible graduating seniors in a drop-down menu. Each nomination should include a paragraph or more describing the student’s personal attributes or contributions that correspond to the award. Your input will assist the Student Life committee in making decisions with respect to the final recipients for Honor Man or Honor Woman, Trustees Award, B Sherrod Scholarship and Dean Adams Achievement Award. Nominations are due by 5:00 PM on Thursday, November 10, 2022.

ACU has a new telemedicine option available! UCM telemedicine is available for all ACU faculty and staff. UCM allows you to access a doctor from your home, office or anywhere — 24/7/365 — and is a convenient and cost-effective way to receive health care for common conditions. UCM’s licensed providers can diagnose any non-emergency medical condition with a short phone visit or secure video visit. They can also prescribe medication and send prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice. Access UCM by visiting their website www.goseesam.com/login or by one of their two apps UCM Now or Sam by UCM. Please note: Access to the mental health counseling option will not be available until January 1.

Timesheet Approval Deadline Changes for November

For the upcoming Payroll: Timesheets will need to be submitted AND approved on Monday, November 7th for the 10/23/22 – 11/05/22 pay period. Payday will be Thursday, November 10th, due to the Veteran’s Day holiday.

For the second Payroll in November: The timesheet AND approval deadline will be Monday by 5 p.m. 11/21 for the 11/06 – 11/19 pay period. Payday will still be Friday, November 25th.

Any timesheets or PAFs received after the deadline will be processed on the following payroll. Supervisors should communicate these changes to their student employees. Please contact HR if you have any questions.

Cornerstone Production: The Coast Starlight

Faculty and Staff are invited to attend the cornerstone production of  Keith Bunin’s new play, The Coast Starlight, Directed by Adam Hester. The Coast Starlight, is a smart, funny and compassionate story about our capacity for invention and re-invention when life goes off the rails. One morning, a young man boards the Coast Starlight, the long-distance train that runs from Los Angeles to Seattle. He’s got a secret that can land him in terrible trouble, and he has roughly one thousand miles to enlist the help of his fellow travelers – all of whom are reckoning with their own choices in search of a way forward. Show dates are November 14-19, 2022 at the Fulks Theatre. Tickets can be purchased at acu.edu/theatre or 325-674-2787.

Cover2Cover on Halloween

Cover2Cover is Oct. 31! Join us in the Library as we read aloud Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. We have a host of readers lined up and will start at 9am, continuing until the book is finished. Cover2Cover celebrates books and reading and is hosted by the ACU Department of Language and Literature and by the ACU Library. Come and go as you can and enjoy some themed snacks and good story. Costumes definitely allowed!

First-Generation Faculty/Staff Highlight

November 8, 2022 marks this year’s National First-Generation College Student Day. Student Engagement and TRIO Student Support Services will host a day of events that celebrate our first generation community and empower our students towards first-generation college success. Join us for ISA’s annual culture show, Ethnos, as we celebrate our 30th anniversary on Nov. 4th or 5th in the newly renovated Boone Family Theatre! Ethnos is a showcase of various artistic cultural performances by our very own international students as well as members of the Abilene community. This year we have a line-up of 17 performances from all across the globe! Tickets can be purchased online or at the campus center, Monday-Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. ACU Branding & Editorial Style Guide

Did you know ACU has a seal and two logos — one academic logo and one specifically for athletics? The ACU Branding & Editorial Style Guide produced by the Division of Marketing and Strategic Communications has important information about the use of ACU’s logos, as well as the style used to present words in publications and various media. Being familiar with these guidelines helps us present the university and ACU’s brand consistently. The guide will be updated again soon but keep the link bookmarked for reference at any time.

One-time Federal Student Loan Debt Relief – Applications Open

Applications are now open for the One-time Federal Student Loan Debt Relief Program. The U.S. Department of Education will provide up to $20,000 in debt relief to Pell Grant recipients with loans held by the Department of Education and up to $10,000 in debt relief to non-Pell Grant recipients. Borrowers are eligible for this relief if their individual income is less than $125,000 or $250,000 for households. Learn more about the program. Applications are due December 21, 2023.
