You are invited to join the ACU community as it celebrates Restoration Day on Thursday, September 5 at 3:00 pm and again at 7:00 pm in the Packer Forum of ACU’s Brown Library. Our special guests will be Dr. Royce Money and Dr. Jerry Taylor. This year’s sessions will help us remember and celebrate the 25-year anniversary of the One in Christ Conference, held on ACU’s campus in 1999. Dr. Money will provide a retrospective of the One in Christ Conference, and Dr. Taylor will discuss the current and future paths toward racial reconciliation within Churches of Christ. Restoration Day is hosted by the Center for Restoration Studies (CRS) at ACU. The Center for Restoration Studies was established in 1986 and is jointly managed by the ACU Brown Library and the ACU College of Biblical Studies. The Center advances scholarship related to the Stone-Campbell Movement and is one of the most active research communities dedicated to collecting, preserving, and disseminating scholarship related to the history of the Stone-Campbell Movement, specifically Churches of Christ. The Center for Restoration Studies also provides a robust and vital link between Abilene Christian University and congregations within the Stone-Campbell Movement.

Please join us for a farewell reception honoring Geoff Klafter, Operations warehouse manager, as he becomes a full-time minister at Hawley Church of Christ. The reception will be held Thursday, Aug. 8, from 2:30-4 p.m. in the lobby of the Hunter Welcome Center. Light refreshments will be served.
Join ACU Athletics this Thursday, Aug. 8, from 6-8 p.m. at Buffalo Wild Wings at 1010 E. Overland Trail for our Wildcat Fall Sports Preview. Get together with other Wildcat fans and hear from several of our coaches, including Ijeoma Moronu Alstrup (volleyball), Keith Patterson (football), Stephen Salas (soccer) and Miles Smith (track and field). Food will be available for purchase, but there is no additional charge to attend. Space is limited, so RSVP today to reserve your spot.
Starting this year, the Marketing office is introducing “Headshot Days.” They’re an opportunity for both new and existing employees to receive professional, high-quality headshots. These sessions will occur twice a year, providing everyone a chance to obtain a headshot or update their current one. This will be your only opportunity to get a headshot from the Marketing Department. Our first Headshot Day event will be Aug. 15 and 16 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Onstead-Packer Biblical Studies Building Room 103. There will be a make-up day Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a drop-in event; no need to sign up. If you can’t make it, we will host it again next semester. Photos will be available via email within 2 to 3 weeks of the event. Please note that this initiative is entirely optional, but we highly encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity. The ACU Faulkner Center for Marriage and Family is pleased to announce our fall fundraiser dinner on September 19th at 6:30 pm at the Hunter Welcome Center with speaker, Tish Harrison Warren. Tish is the author of Liturgy of the Ordinary: Sacred Practices in Everyday Life (Christianity Today’s 2018 Book of the Year) and Prayer in the Night: For Those Who Work, or Watch, or Weep (Christianity Today’s 2022 Book of the Year and the 2022 ECPA Christian Book of the Year). Recently, Tish wrote a weekly newsletter for The New York Times and was a columnist for Christianity Today. Her articles and essays have appeared in Religion News Service, Christianity Today, Comment Magazine, The Point Magazine, and The New York Times. Tickets are $30 and tables are $240. Parking permits for school year 2024-25 are now available through paper form only at this time. The online parking portal will not be available until mid-August. Faculty and staff if you will please fill out the Vehicle Registration Form and bring to the ACU Police Department to obtain your permit. Student permits are available at ACU Police or Wildcat Central. Office hours are 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For questions, please call ext. 2305.
