On October 16-18, ACU will host its 118th year of Summit. Join us as we focus on adult formation, children’s ministry, Hispanic ministry, preaching, and rural churches. Or, take part in one of our general interest communities. This year features both an Old Testament and a New Testament general interest community. Summit will be blessed by amazing speakers, powerful worship, and uplifting fellowship, including our Thursday evening Anchor Point plenary session. Your Volleyball Wildcats are back on campus for 2 matches this week! Join us in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month on Oct 3rd 6 pm and then again on Oct 11th 11 am to celebrate BIG COUNTRY DAY. The volleyball team truly appreciates the support of faculty and staff and can’t wait to see you there with your families!

Come to Coffee with KACU on Friday, October 4th at 8:30 AM for Monk’s coffee and an unveiling of our new mural! It will also be the last day of our on-air Fall Fundraiser, so donate to support our student-run news station. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

ACU has earned a silver level designation through the state’s Mother-Friendly Workplace program. This program recognizes businesses that support employees who choose to breastfeed their infants and ensures that participating workplaces have facilities and policies in place. ACU now has three Mother’s Rooms located on campus in Brown Library, 156, Phillips Education, 118A and McGlothlin Campus Center, 43C. Soon we will open two more locations in Hunter Welcome Center, 253B and Sherrod Building, 134A. These rooms are open to faculty, staff and students who are breastfeeding. Thank you to members of the Staff Senate for leading this effort.

As part of Tolkien Week, the ACU Brown Library has a guest author, Shawn E. Marchese, speaking on Friday, September 27, 2024, in the Packer Forum at 2:00 p.m. Marchese is the founding co-host of The Prancing Pony Podcast and the co-author of Why We Love Middle-Earth. His talk, “Wanderers in the World: Frodo as Elf-friend and the Enchantment of the Reader,” will explore Frodo’s journey of becoming an “Elf-friend” — a name full of meaning in Tolkien’s legendarium — and how that journey mirrors the reader’s experience of reading The Lord of the Rings.

2025 Open Enrollment will be in November! All benefits-eligible employees will need to complete their enrollment online between November 4 and November 8, 2024. Please watch the myACU newsletter for details on Open Enrollment Meetings, which will be held between October 21st and November 1st.

The Biology Department is hosting a blood drive for the Hendrick Regional Blood Center. The blood drive will be held on October 3 from 9 am – 2 pm. The blood mobile will be parked in the Nelson Dorm parking lot between the Halbert-Walling and OSC science buildings. No appointment needed.

Join the Maker Lab on September 19th from 12-1 and learn the basics of leather working. We have two projects available: bookmark and keychain. The spots are limited, so it is first come, first served. You will receive a calendar invite after filling out this form.

Entra a La Plaza is September 27, 2024, 6 -10 p.m at the ACU Campus Mall. Entra a la Plaza at Abilene Christian University celebrates Hispanic culture in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere as a part of Hispanic Heritage Month! The Abilene area community is invited to come and celebrate with us! Attendees can enjoy performances by Ballet Folklorico and Selena tribute band Bidi Bidi Banda, as well as food trucks, mariachi music, a petting zoo, and arts and crafts activities. The Hispanic heritage encompasses vibrant and colorful cultures worldwide, often bound together by the Spanish language. Abilene Christian is seeking to be a Hispanic-Serving Institution and celebrates the Hispanic cultural traditions of our students.

The ACU Volleyball team is excited to celebrate YOU on our 1st home opener of 2024. Sept 19th is Wildcat Appreciation Night, a night to celebrate Wildcat students, staff, faculty, and FANS. We’d love to have you support your volleyball student-athletes! Bring your families for post-match autographs!
