Benefits Tip: New Medical & RX Cards for 2024

All employees covered under ACU’s medical plan were mailed new medical ID cards in December. You must show your new card to all providers, including the pharmacy, in 2024. If you can not locate your new cards, please contact your ACU Benefits Analyst, Elsa Dunson,  at edunson@holmesmurphy.com or 800.325.1174. You can also access your information through the HealthComp website.

Staff Leave Balances

Until the payroll is run on January 19, all employees will see zero hours in their Holiday and Personal Day leave balances for 2024. When you submit your timesheets and leave reports for December 31 – January 13, which includes the January 1 holiday, you will see a warning that you have an insufficient leave balance. Please go ahead and submit your holiday hours as you normally would.

Verify Your Deductions

Please take a minute to look at your pay stub in myACU Banner so that you are aware of your earnings and deductions. Your elections from open enrollment for your 2024 benefit deductions were seen for the first time on the Jan 5th paycheck. It’s essential that you verify your deductions were set up as you expected. Failure to promptly notify HR of a discrepancy could result in our inability to process a change. If you need help locating your pay stub or have questions, please contact HR at x2359 or humanresources@acu.edu.

Student Entertainment Reimbursement

We believe that students who are in the home of faculty and staff thrive and retain at a higher rate than those who are not; therefore, the Student Entertainment Reimbursement program exists primarily to support faculty and staff in hosting a variety of students in their homes. It is not intended for the regular meeting of a group. It is intended to support faculty and staff in hosting their current students in their homes for a meal. Beginning January 2024, when faculty & staff host a minimum of 5 students in their home for a meal, they can be reimbursed $8 per student in attendance. The Reimbursement Form can be found on the Accounting & Finance Page located on myACU. Questions should be directed to accountspayable@acu.edu or humanresources@acu.edu.

Personal Day Reminder

Each calendar year, benefits-eligible employees receive two personal days to be used at their discretion. Personal days do not roll over to the following calendar year therefore they should be used by December 30, 2023.

Vacation Hour Rollover

Staff are allowed to roll over up to 80 hours of vacation each calendar year. For 2023, the rollover date will be December 30th. If you have more than 80 hours of vacation, you should plan to use the overage before December 30th so that you do not lose that time.

SERC Open House

The Gayle and Max Dillard Science and Engineering Research Center is complete and preparing to house the NEXT Lab and other future research projects. The facility will be open to the community on Sept. 1 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and NEXT Lab personnel will be on hand to talk about the facility and current projects. Please plan to enter the SERC from the lobby on the north side of the building.

Labor Day

Please note that the university has added Labor Day as a holiday, so the campus will be closed for business and classes will not meet on Monday, September 4, 2023.  Student Life has many activities planned for students for the three-day Labor Day weekend.

Opening Assembly and Monday Chapel

Opening Assembly, including the annual Parade of Flags, will be Monday, August 28, at 11 a.m. in Moody Coliseum. This year’s speaker is Hon. Shelton Gibbs IV (’02), district judge for the 422nd District Court in Texas. Judge Gibbs was named Young Alumnus of the Year in 2021 and is a member of the ACU Board of Trustees. All faculty are invited to participate in the celebration by marching in regalia and sitting in the faculty section. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

Also, please make plans to close offices so that all faculty and staff can attend Monday Chapel in Moody Coliseum each week during the academic year.
