Scott Erickson is an artist, author, performance speaker, and creative curate who mixes autobiography, mythology, and aesthetics to create art and moments that speak to our deepest experiences. Using his passion and commitment to craft, Scott has been a working artist for over a decade and has had his work appear on CNN, National Geographic, and various magazines, newspaper outlets, and book covers. As a speaker, Scott brings his training as an educator and his experience as a visual communicator to all of his presentations. His goal is to bring something for his “A.D.D. brothers and sisters out there,”… making sure every speech is thoughtful, entertaining, wondrous, and filled with visual elements and live creating. His current show, “Say Yes: A Liturgy of Not Giving Up On Yourself,” juxtaposes story-teaching, participation, humor, and image curation as Scott walks us through the very personal and universal conversation about the death of a dream and the overwhelming voice of Giving Up in our lives.

ACU nametags have been redesigned. Please order new nametags for your department and discard all other previous versions. The only version of the ACU nametag that should be worn is the latest.

ACUPD wants to remind everyone to ensure they are registered and current with the ACU ALERT system. ACU ALERT is used by ACUPD to alert the campus community to crisis events, emergencies, or weather-related delays/closures. You can register or check your ALERT status at acu.edu/acualert. Please remember that closure for inclement weather will not change any due dates for payroll. Timesheets, leave reports and paf’s all remain due as posted on the FY2023 Payroll Calendar.

Due to the inclement weather on Monday, January 31, please see the following information regarding submitting time:

Non-Exempt employees will see an “Inclement Weather” line on their Web Time. Non-Exempt employees (including temporary employees) who did not work during the closure should record their normally scheduled hours as inclement weather. Non-Exempt employees who worked during the closure, including checking work email and voice mail, should record the time worked as base pay and the remainder of their regular schedule as inclement weather.

Exempt employees need not take any action due to the weather.

Note: Employees already taking vacation days should still record the time off as vacation, not inclement weather.

Each department needs to decide how to handle its student employees. Departments may: 1) allow students to work extra hours to make up the time missed, 2) pay your student employees their regularly scheduled hours during the closure. Student employees will not have an inclement weather line and should record the hours as timed work, OR 3) inform students that they should not log missed hours for the closure days.

As announced last October, for the birth or adoption of a child (after Jan. 1, 2023), ACU will award six weeks of paid leave for both the mother and father. Employees will have one year to use their parental leave, which can be taken intermittently. We believe bonding with children is critical for both the mother and father and encourage all eligible employees to utilize this benefit. (Parental leave will run concurrently with FMLA.) Employees who foresee taking parental leave should complete an application as soon as possible.

UCM telemedicine has replaced Wildcat Care for all ACU faculty and staff. UCM allows you to access a doctor from your home, office or anywhere — 24/7/365 — and is a convenient and cost-effective way to receive health care for common conditions. UCM’s licensed providers can diagnose any non-emergency medical condition with a short phone or secure video visit. They can also prescribe medication and send prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice. UCM also provides mental health counseling. All employees covered under ACU’s medical plan were mailed new medical ID cards in December. You must show your new card when picking up prescriptions for the first time in 2023.
