A reminder from Kevin Roberts: As work continues on both the East and North ends of campus, it is important to observe university expectations regarding visits to the sites. No personnel – faculty or staff – should be present on the construction site. If visiting a site is necessary, first contact Jeff Arrington or Scot Colley to arrange a visit. Your help in this matter will ensure safe and efficient construction sites.
The Office of Risk Management has recently partnered with the Office of Human Resources and we are excited to announce the purchase of 32 Automated External Defibrillators (AED). An (AED) is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias. By using simple audio and visual commands, AEDs are designed to be simple to use for the layman. These AED’s will be installed throughout campus at selected locations. Training of selected faculty and staff is in progress. If you or your department would like to become AED, CPR and First Aid certified, please contact the Office of Risk Management (x2363) or rickey.brown@acu.edu for scheduling.
Facilities & Campus Management is establishing the Abilene Christian University Feral Cat Initiative. The initiative’s mission is to raise awareness about the feral and stray cats living outdoors throughout our campus; to offer solutions to prevent the number of homeless cats from increasing, and to successfully manage the existing colonies.
Aerosol Can Disposal Procedure — Many different types of aerosol can products are used at ACU. The waste products in aerosol cans are regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Starting Monday, September 24th, the Office of Risk Management in conjunction with University Purchasing will begin a program to ensure compliance with the Federal, State and local laws and regulations. The University has purchased an aerosol can puncturing system to ensure the waste products contained in the aerosol cans are disposed of safely. To properly dispose of aerosol cans all departments should collect the used aerosol cans then request a pickup from University Purchasing which will transport all used aerosol cans for proper disposal. Do Not Place Aerosol Cans In the Regular Trash. Pick up requests can be made by emailing purchasing@acu.edu with department name, location, and quantity. We are pleased to provide this service to help the University and environment. We ask that you please make sure the used aerosol cans are placed in a box or bag for transport.
